I introduced you to Kerry and Peter back in January after their pre-wedding shoot. They married on a dull and drizzly day in February. Travelling to Kerry's parents house on Saturday morning I was reworking the planned shots because of the rain coming down.
Rain isn't ideal for photographs but I prefer to shoot in rain than in bright sunshine. Any photographer will tell you that the sun's light is harsh it creates unflattering hardsh shadows, almost lines of black against the white. Not only that it can cause the subject to blink, screw their eyes up or even cause their eyes to water. Shooting straight into the sun causes a problem for your camera and puts your subjects' faces into shadow. Saying all that some of my favourite photograhs have been shot facing into the sun, I love creative lens flare as much as the next photographer and for putting the subject into shade - off camera flash can deal with that.

The early shots were straight forward as they are inside, the dress, shoes etc. Kerry's dress was quite simple. As she was seven months pregnant her choice of dresses wasvery limited.

After a beautiful service at the Church in Marston on the Dove. We braved the weather. Whilst it wasn't raining, the damp was enough for Kerry to worry about her hair, even with the Ivory Brollys I always carry with me.
When we got to Horsley Lodge the drizzle stayed with us. The only people I was getting outside were the guys but they were a little precious about their shoes and trousers.

With the rain and Kerry getting tired we were unable to shoot in the nicer parts of Horsley so we got together the following Friday and although there was no wedding dress and Peter was in his "civvies" but we had a great time and got some great shots some of which will be in their album.

Kerry and Peter are a great couple. Peter never left Kerry's side all day and I'm sure he will take the same approach with their latest addition Charlie who arrived in April.
I wish them all the best for the future and I will be photographing Charlie later
As for not photographing in the rain - no problem - not if you've got a great couple!
A tip when you are looking for a wedding photographer - What do they plan to do if it rains? Are they prepared? What about brollies? Will they go the extra mile?
